SEO Software Review - Web CEO
I think most SEO professionals will agree that a comprehensive approach to SEO for most any website requires SEO software... That's not to say you should rely on software exclusively, however, anyone who does everything manually - must be a person with too much time on their hands.
As an SEO expert handling multiple clients, I have spent a good deal of time looking for one program to take care of most of my tedious tasks. I had to rely on at least three or four different sources for ranking, page optimization and keyword research.
Web CEO
This is how Web CEO scored:
- User Friendliness - Ease of Setup.... Score 10/10
- Page Optimization - Score 8/10
- Keyword Selection - Score 4/10
- Time Savings - Score 10/10
- Search Engine Submissions - Score 9/10
- Backlink Checker - Score 8/10
Review:
User Friendliness:
This system is very easy to use, and the free version offers many of the same abilities as the paid version, although on a more limited basis (for example you can only check 5 keyword phrases for ranking at once). The system comes with many helpful tips, and someone can learn to use it very quickly.
Page Optimization:
WEBCEO is a very good tool to examine and modify on-page ranking factors. Since it doesn’t allow for analysis of off-page factors such as inbound linking, it doesn’t get a full “10.” The system allows you to compare your site for up to up to three keywords against your choice of competition or against the top 10 ranked sites within each search engine in the database. It offers many relevant metrics including densities and weights of keywords, and once again provides many helpful tips. The WEBCEO database, as far as Search Engines go, is very thorough. Using this system to act as a roadmap to your on-page optimization will certainly help in many ways.
Keyword selection:
Very similar to the WordTracker product, the keyword selection tool leaves a little to be desired. We would not give a ten out of ten to any single tool out there designed to help with keyword selection. In order to really discover study the keywords you want to use, you should use a combination of this tool with the Yahoo! Search Marketing Keyword selector, the Google AdWords tool, and the most important tool of all: the brain of someone who is familiar with the specific industry. Low grade only because it is hard to justify the search numbers given. They do act as a good indicator of possible trends, but some “zero’s” certainly are searched.
Time Savings:
Great! Set a report up and leave. Come back and it is finished and ready to be exported, even with your personal logo.
Saerch Engine Submissions:
Very good. Covers most search engines. As most know, there is no real reason to submit to Google. Although it would be nice to see a feature added that would allow for the submission of a sitemap to the new Google sitemap submission system.
Backlink checker :
Also an excellent feature, allows you to see known backlinks on all search engines for each page of the site. Sometimes seems a little off, but mostly accurate when manually compared using link command searches at the various search engines. Drawback: should clearly state that the Google backlink report is (by Google design) not fully disclosing.
